Bullying Door Contest

The month of October focuses on Respect and Anti-Violence including Bullying. Our school had a door decorating contest. Each class was asked to decorate their door with the same theme of Bullying Awareness. The students in Ms. Gould's homeroom class with the help with Ms. Amy decorated the door with superheroes with the slogan "Superheroes have no place for bullies, neither should you!"

The class was very proud of the finished product!

Here you can see the students working hard to paint the door decorations.

We are very excited to announce that we WON the door contest!

Our class would like to congratulate the other winners and commend the other classrooms on a job well done. All of the doors looked great :)

October

The students in the TCP program have been working hard since the beginning of October. We started off the month by writing Respect acrostic poems. The students brainstormed words and ideas that go along with respect. We then began our long journey of writing essays. We started with writing single paragraphs about any topic we wanted. We then moved onto writing a persuasive essay on Why People Shouldn't Bully. This essay had to be 2 paragraphs long. We've been using graphic organizers to organize our thoughts. By the end of the school year the students will hopefully be writing 5 paragraph essays!

Here are some of our poems...

In Social Studies we began our journey traveling across the United States. Our first stop is the Northeast Region. Each student selected a state they were interested in learning more about. Then we researched the state and created a pennant complete with pictures of the map, flag and points of interest. We also took a test to see how many states we could think of! It was a lot harder than we thought.

Check out our pennants...

Welcome!

Welcome to our class blog! On our blog you will find information about the Transitional Career Program students of Salem County Special Services School District - Salem Campus and what they are doing Language Arts and Social Studies throughout the year. I hope you enjoy reading about what we're learning as much as we are enjoying learning about it!
